The Kindness of strangers

Yesterday was the worst day ever, yet the kindness of strangers made it a little better. I have recently moved and am now in Texas, and I must say that the people of Corpus Christi are wonderful. I've made new friends and I've met some wonderful people who are willing to stop to help a stranger. To say that I had car trouble yesterday would be an understatement. My car broke down twice and I lost control in between the two times. while I was getting off the highway my car started to stutter, the engine was skipping and as I hit the stop light the car stopped, not because I braked, it just stopped. "Okay, Kang, take a deep breath, put the car in park and start the engine and pray it starts."

ch, chug vrooom, yes we're off and running. I decide that I don't want to wait on all the lights on the main road so I turn off unto a road that has sand and water on either side of it. It also has some bends in it and as I am taking one of these turns, I somehow find myself careening into the sand.

I give the car some gas, but I am not moving. This is where the kindness of strangers begins. I call my mother, but she is not picking up and her cell goes straight to voicemail. I call my dad who is on the other side of the country, and he calls one of his friends. My mother calls me back and i tell her what's happening, and she says she's on her way. I am about 4 minutes from my house. As I am waiting, a couple drives by and sees my plight, pulls over and pushes my car out of the sand. For all those of you who do not believe in a higher power, I apologize for giving offense right now. But to me , people who stop to help like that reveal God within humanity.
A little later I decide to go back out. I drive about 2 miles from my house and turn around. I keep to the main road this time fearing a repeat of my earlier incident. I get to the light where I need to make a left turn and my car stops and refuses to start. The person behind me comes up to the car to ask if everything is alright and i burst into tears. A few minutes later three strangers are helping me push my car out of the road and again the kindness of strangers get me out of the road and on my way home. Thank God for people who are willing to help a young lady stranded in the street.
